창세기 46장 묵상 : 예배로 두려움을 이긴 야곱, 거룩을 선택한 요셉

1. 이스라엘이 자기에게 속한 모든 사람들과 함께 출발했습니다. 그는 브엘세바에 도착해 자기 아버지 이삭의 하나님께 제사를 드렸습니다.
2. 밤에 하나님께서 이스라엘에게 환상 가운데 말씀하셨습니다. "야곱아, 야곱아." 그가 대답했습니다. "제가 여기 있습니다."
3. 하나님께서 말씀하셨습니다. "나는 하나님, 곧 네 아버지의 하나님이다. 이집트로 내려가는 것을 두려워하지 마라. 거기에서 내가 너를 큰 민족이 되게 하겠다.
4. 내가 너와 함께 그곳으로 내려갈 것이다. 그리고 분명히 너를 이곳으로 다시 데려오리니 요셉의 손이 네 눈을 감겨 줄 것이다.
🟥 미래에 대한 두려움과 예배의 상실
우리가 인생을 살아가며 가장 크게 마주하는 두려움은 미래에 대한 불안입니다.
야곱 역시 애굽으로 내려가는 길에서 두려움에 휩싸여 있었습니다. 하지만 그는 먼저 브엘세바에서 하나님께 예배를 드렸습니다.
예배 가운데 하나님은 “두려워하지 말라, 내가 너와 함께 내려가며 너를 큰 민족이 되게 하겠다”는 약속을 주셨습니다.
오늘날 많은 성도들이 예배의 능력을 잊고 살아갑니다. 일주일에 한 번 형식적으로 드리는 주일 예배에만 머물러 있습니다. 그러나 성경은 참된 예배자가 “신령과 진정으로” 하나님께 나아가야 한다고 말씀합니다.
우리는 순간순간을 예배로 살아내야 하지만, 세상의 일과 취미, 바쁜 일정 속에서 예배가 무너지고 있는 현실을 마주하고 있습니다.
🟥 Fear of the Future and the Loss of Worship
One of the greatest fears we face in life is uncertainty about the future.
Jacob himself was overwhelmed with fear as he journeyed down to Egypt. But before taking another step, he stopped in Beersheba and offered worship to God.
In that place of worship, God spoke to him: “Do not be afraid. I will go down with you, and I will make you into a great nation.”
Today, many believers forget the power of worship. Too often, worship is reduced to a formal service once a week. But Scripture teaches us that true worshipers must worship the Father “in spirit and in truth.”
Worship is not just an event, it is a way of life. Yet, the busyness of work, hobbies, and endless schedules has weakened the place of worship in our daily lives.
🟨 우리의 모습 속에 있는 연약함
우리 역시 야곱처럼 앞날을 두려워하며 흔들리는 존재입니다. 또 요셉의 가족처럼 세상의 중심 문화 속에 안주하려는 유혹을 받습니다. 하지만 하나님은 예배 가운데 우리에게 가장 필요한 음성을 주십니다.
“내가 너와 함께 하겠다.” 이 약속이 우리의 불안을 잠재웁니다.
요셉이 형제들에게 목축하는 자라는 정체성을 지키도록 이끈 것은 단순한 직업 문제가 아니었습니다.
애굽의 화려한 중심 문화 속에 들어가면, 그들은 쉽게 우상과 타락한 문화에 동화될 수 있었기 때문입니다.
요셉은 가족이 세상과 섞이지 않고 하나님을 온전히 섬기는 길을 선택하도록 이끌었습니다. 이것은 오늘 우리에게도 주시는 교훈입니다.
🟨 Our Weakness Revealed
Like Jacob, we also tremble at what lies ahead. Like Joseph’s family, we are tempted to settle comfortably in the center of worldly culture. Yet, in worship, God speaks the very words we most need.
“I am with you.” This promise calms our anxieties.
Joseph guided his family to hold firmly to their identity as shepherds. This was not just about their occupation. If they blended into Egypt’s dazzling culture, they could easily fall into idolatry and corruption.
Joseph led them to remain set apart for God alone. That same lesson speaks to us today.
🟩 예배와 거룩의 길로 돌아가라
야곱이 예배 속에서 두려움을 이겨냈듯이, 우리도 매일의 삶을 예배로 세워야 합니다.
예배는 단순한 의식이 아니라, 내 몸을 산 제물로 드리며 주님과 동행하는 거룩한 삶입니다.
항상 기뻐하고, 쉬지 말고 기도하며, 범사에 감사하는 태도 자체가 예배입니다.
또한 요셉처럼 우리는 세상과 타협하지 않고 구별된 길을 선택해야 합니다.
세상의 중심에 들어가 화려함과 권력을 누리는 것이 성공처럼 보이지만, 참된 지혜는 생명과 영생의 길, 진리의 길을 붙드는 데 있습니다.
좁은 길이지만 하나님이 기뻐하시는 길을 택하는 것이 참된 신앙인의 모습입니다.
🟩 Returning to Worship and Holiness
Just as Jacob overcame fear through worship, we too must build our lives as living worship.
Worship is not an empty ritual but presenting our very bodies as living sacrifices, walking daily in holiness with Christ.
To rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in all circumstances that posture itself is true worship.
Like Joseph, we are called not to compromise with the world but to choose the narrow, set-apart path.
The glitter and power of this world may look like success, but true wisdom is found in clinging to the way of life and eternal truth.
The narrow road may be hard, but it is the path that delights God.
🟦 우리가 선택해야 할 삶의 방향
우리에게는 두 가지 길이 있습니다.
1. 세상 사람들과 어울리며 권력과 쾌락을 나누며 사는 길
2. 하나님 앞에서 거룩함을 지키며 영원한 생명을 바라보는 길
야곱처럼 예배로 두려움을 이기고, 요셉처럼 세상과 구별된 길을 선택해야 합니다.
인생은 짧고 덧없습니다. 며칠 전 소천한 개그맨 전유성 씨의 사례처럼, 우리는 모두 나그네의 길을 걷고 있습니다. 그렇기에 내 안의 영혼을 살리고, 영생을 붙잡으며, 예수 그리스도가 길이요 진리요 생명임을 믿고 따르는 선택을 해야 합니다.
🟦 The Direction We Must Choose
There are two paths before us:
1.To blend with the world, chasing power and pleasure.
2.To walk before God in holiness, fixing our eyes on eternal life.
We must overcome fear through worship like Jacob, and choose the set-apart way like Joseph.
Life is short and fleeting. As we are reminded by the passing of public figures like comedian Jeon Yoo-seong, we are all sojourners.
That is why we must guard our souls, cling to eternal life, and confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
🟪 지금 결단해야 할 이유
오늘 결단하지 않으면, 우리는 세상 문화 속에 점점 더 깊이 물들어 하나님을 잊고 살 수 있습니다.
예배의 자리에 나아오지 않으면, 불안과 두려움 속에 휩싸여 방황하게 됩니다. 그러나 예배와 거룩의 길을 선택하면, 하나님은 “내가 너와 함께 하겠다”는 약속을 반드시 지켜주십니다.
🟪 Why We Must Decide Now
If we delay, we risk being slowly absorbed into worldly culture and forgetting God.
Without worship, we will wander in fear and restlessness. But if we choose worship and holiness, God will keep His promise: “I am with you.”
🙏 함께 드리는 기도
사랑의 하나님, 두려움 가운데 있을 때에도 예배할 수 있는 믿음을 허락해 주심을 감사합니다.
야곱처럼 예배 가운데 응답을 받게 하시고, 요셉처럼 세상과 구별된 길을 선택할 수 있는 지혜를 주옵소서.
우리의 인생이 짧은 나그네의 길임을 기억하며, 영생의 길을 붙들게 하시고, 순간순간 예배자가 되게 하옵소서.
특별히 이 부족한 종 건주부의 삶과 HSRI 사역 위에 은혜를 더하셔서, 선교와 구제의 사명에 쓰임 받게 하시고, 운영하는 사업 위에도 하나님의 공급과 보호가 가득하게 하옵소서.
예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
🙏 Prayer
Loving Father, thank You for giving us the faith to worship even in the midst of fear.
Like Jacob, may we receive Your answer in worship, and like Joseph, may we have the wisdom to remain set apart from the world.
Remind us daily that our lives are a brief pilgrimage, and help us to cling to eternal life and become true worshipers in every moment.
Especially, Lord, pour out Your grace upon the life of Your servant, Geon-ju-bu, and upon the HSRI ministry. Use this work for missions and compassion, and let Your provision and protection rest abundantly upon the businesses being managed.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
